Police are awaiting the report of a pathologist on the death of Laymen H (Red) Bronston, 49, Summer Street Road. His body was found lying face down in the water near his boat on Sullivan’s Slough on Saturday.
Dr. Robert Rowley said it will be about two days to complete the investigation of the death.
Bronston’s wife drove him to the slough early Saturday, and he was found later when he did not meet her in the afternoon.
Officers said there were no signs of violence, but stated that Bronston apparently did not drown.
The son of Charles and Lettie Herman Bronston, he was born in Farmington, Iowa, on May 27, 1912. On May 9, 1952, he married Edna L. Snider at Mt. Pleasant.
He was a glazier for Iowa Plate and Window Glass Company and was a member of the First Methodist Church. He was a WWII Veteran.
Survivors include his wife, his mother of Los Angeles, Cal.; two brothers, John of Milwaukee, Wis.; Thomas of Long Beach, Cal.; three sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Dunn and Mrs. Margaret Lofstedt, both of Hollywood, Cal.; Mrs. Effie Morris, Detroit, Mich. His father and one brother are dead.
Services will be Wednesday at 1 pm at the Elliott-Lunning chapel with Dr. George Hunt officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
Heart failure was found to be the cause of his death.
