A telegram was received in the city announcing the death at 2 p.m. Tuesday of Mrs. Eliza A.Candy at Northfield, Minn., to which place she removed from Burlington last fall. Mrs. Candy's maiden name was Eliza Ann Norris. She was born at Kent, near London, England, in 1811, and was married in London to Thomas Candy. The family removed to America thirty-five years ago, settling in Burlington on North Main street, and afterwards removing to North Hill, Mr. Candy died of cholera in 1852. They also lost five children. Of the children who survived to maturity a son, Wm. Candy, died some years ago at his mother's residence on Pond street. He was engaged in commercial business and had a large circle of warm friends. A daughter, Miss Eliza Candy, married Mr. J.P. Leebrick and died some years ago. Another daughter, Edith, married Rev. A.C. Williams, and is now the only surviving child. The remains will be shipped to Burlington for interment in Aspen Grove and will be received by the 10:30 B., C.R. & N. train Thursday morning and conveyed to the cemetery.
