Charles Bowman, 71 of 102 Melrose Court, died suddenly at his home early Thursday.
Police and the fire department inhalator squad were called to the residence at 6:55 am when Bowman reportedly suffered a heart attack. The victim was dead when the doctor who was also called arrived.
Born May 17, 1884, in Tama township, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Bowman. He was married Oct. 24, 1907, at Oquawka, Il.
For the past 10 years, the Bowmans had lived in California and had just moved back to Burlington. He was a member of the Methodist church.
Surviving are his wife, Grace; two daughters, Mrs. Violet Lyon, Quincy, Ill, and Mrs. Beatrice Willson, South Gate, Calif.; two grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. His parents, two brothers, and three sisters died previously.
The body is at Giles funeral home. Funeral will be held at the funeral home Monday at 1:30 pm. The Rev. James Buikema will officiate. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
