Obituary
Harry Donald Brockett, 68, of Oquawka, Ill., formerly of Gulfport, Ill., and Burlington, died at 6:50 am Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2003, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Knoxville.
Born Jan. 18, 1935, in Henderson County, Ill., he was the son of Otto and Myrtle Terry Christofferson. On June 30, 1956, he married Shirley Connelly in Jeffersonville, Ind.
Mr. Brockett worked at the Burlington railroad shops for 28 years before retiring in 1997. He was of the Baptist faith. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Galesburg, Ill. He raced short track and endurance motorcycles and loved the river and hunting.
Survivors included his wife; three sons, Jeffery and Jesse Brocket of Burlington, and Donald Brockett of Birmingham; five grandchildren; five brothers, Marti Brockett of Joplin, Mo., Glen Moyers and John Christofferson, both of Oquawka, Bill Moyers of Tennessee, and Bud Christofferson of Hedrick and seven sisters, Roby Norton, Kathy Waterman, Mary Moyers, Delilah Bloomer and Jody Green, all of Burlington, Ethel Huss of Lomax, Ill., and Dixie Christofferson of Gladstone, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be from noon to 8 pm today at Lunning Chapel in Burlington. The family will receive friends from 9:30 am to 10 am Friday at Lunning Chapel prior to the time of service.
