Obituary
An expression of deep regret over the death of a well-known citizen is at times a mere conventionality. When the news flashed over the city yesterday that Henry Fear was dead, then honest, earnest, heartfelt expressions of deep regret were heard on every hand. he was but a plain man of the people, he had never occupied a prominent position and probably had never aspired to one. But he had won a warm spot in the heart of everyone who had come to know him. Honest as the day was long; honest in his convictions and in his expression of such convictions; blessed with an unfailing vein of dry humor and the ability of seeing the silver lining of every cloud, he was welcomed everywhere. Such men are never too numerous and they can never live too long. Henry Fear was a native of the Buckeye state. He was born at Miami, Hamilton county, July 22, 1836. With his parents he came to Burlington in 1842. He had passed almost his whole life in this city and being the fortunate possessor of a good memory, he was a walking history in Burlington. During his long life, he had engaged in various mercantile projects. For a numer of years past he had been connected with the sheriff's office and he had earned the reputation of a most trustworthy, conscientious official. He is survived by twos sons. Fred S. and Kimball. up to a week ago Mr. Fear enjoyed excellent health; the cause of death was pneumonia.
