Alberta Verna Wemmie, 89, of Burlington, died at 4:55 a.m. Thursday. Jan. 22, at Great River Medical Centers Klein Center. Born Sept. 16, 1914, in Battle Creek, Neb., she was the daughter of Louis and Esther Niederhuth Schulz. On June 22, 1939, she married Albert Wemmie in Battle Creek. He died Aug. 22, 1989. Mrs. Wemmie was a homemaker. She was of the Baptist faith. She loved to sew, crochet, make silk flower arrangements, chalk drawing, flower gardening, teaching Sunday and working on the farrn. She also enjoyed making clocks with her husband. Survivors include two sons, Donald Wemmie and Mark Wemmie, both of West Burlington; two daughters, Linda Bozwell and Donna Beyer, both of Burlington; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three brothers, Arnold Shulz, Kenneth Schulz and Harlan Schulz, all of Madison, Neb.; one sister, LaVerne Glaser of Norfolk, Neb., and nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one son, two brothers and one sister. Visitation will from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Prugh's where the family will friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday. The funeral for Mrs. Wemmie will at 1 p.m. Monday at Calvary Baptist Church, with Pastor Dean officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established for Calvary Baptist Church.
