George Wemmie, 84, Tama Township farmer, died at his home 2 1/2 miles north of Burlington at 6:40 this morning. Mr. Wemmie was retired. He was born in Germany Sept. 24, 1851, coming to this country and directly to Des Moines county, in 1893. He was married to miss Stientze Wolterman in Germany Nov. 5, 1879. He was a member of Oak Street Baptist church. Surviving are two children Fred Wemmie and Mrs. Sophia Thompson, both of this county, seven grandchildren and a great grandchild. His wife preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held at the home 1:30 p.m. Thursday and from Oak Street church at 2:20 p.m. Thursday. The body is at Prugh's chapel and will be removed to the home at a time to be announced later.
