Mrs. George Wemmie, 88, resident of Des Moines county for 40 years, died at her home, five miles north of Burlington on the Irish Ridge road at 1:45 o'clock this afternoon. Mrs. Wemmie fractured her hip on September 1 and has been failing steadily since that time. Stientj Waterman was born in Germany and married in the old country to George Wemmie, the family coming to this country 40 years ago. Mrs. Wemmie was a member of Oak Street Baptist church and the Ladies Aid society of the church. She is survived by her husband, now retired from farming; a son, Fred Wemmie; a daughter, Mrs. Louis Thompson, and seven grandchildren all of whom live north of Burlington. The body was taken to the Burnett-Wallen funeral home pending arrangements for the funeral.
