Charles H. Phelps, 605 N. Seventh, died at Burlington Medical Center Friday, Oct. 14.Born May 15, 1899, in Burlington, he was the son of Edward S. and Jessie Garrett Phelps. He married Florence James in Burlington Sept. 18, 1928. He was a retired agent with the Phelps Insurance Agency, and a member of Des Moines County Historical Society, Elks, Malta lodge, AF&AM, and Christ Episcopal church. Surviving: The wife. Funeral: 11 a.m. Monday, Sheagren Funeral Home, Bishop Russell Rauscher; Aspen Grove cemetery. A memorial to the Phelps house has been established.
