Obituary
Mrs. Mary Kammermeyer, widow of Dr. Michael Kammermeyer, died this morning at 1 o’clock at Burlington Hospital of heart failure, after an illness of eight weeks. She had been making her home with Mrs. Henry Buser at 711 Foster Street, and everything that loving hearts could do for her was done, but yesterday her condition became so serious that it was necessary to take her to the hospital. There she peacefully passed away shortly after midnight.
The deceased was 66 years of age and was born in Germany. She was united in marriage to Mr. Michael Kammermeyer and thirty-six years ago they came to Burlington to make their home. Here Mr. Kammermeyer gained a wide reputation in his practice of medicine, but he passed to the great beyond in 1875. Mrs. Kammermeyer joined the German Methodist church fifty years ago and led a thorough Christian life. She was a loving wife and an ideal mother. To know her was to love her. Not only will her demise bring sorrow to her family but it will be felt in other circles where she was known.
Surviving are her four children – Mrs. John Hertzler and Mrs. Buser of Burlington; Fred who resides on a ranch in California, and Ed Kammermeyer, the famous musical composer, who is at present leader of the renowned orchestra at Catalina island, fifty miles below Los Angeles.
The funeral will be held on Friday afternoon.
