Paul Albert Butts, 84, of Burlington died at 4:50 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, 2015.
Born Jan. 26, 1931, in Burlington, he was the son of Albert L. and Edna L. Russell Butts. On Feb. 2, 1957, he married Marlene G. Larson.
Mr. Butts was a truck driver for more than 30 years, retiring in 1991 after working for Churchill, Sturm Freightways and Atlas/Allied Van Lines.
He served in the Army during the Korean War.
He was a member of First United Church of Christ. He also was a member of the Teamsters, Moose Lodge No. 579 and Eagles Aerie No. 150.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, playing pool, going on the river, fishing, hunting, time spent at the cabin, playing golf, telling jokes and watching out for Marlene.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Paul Butts; three daughters, Christine Brakeville, Cindy Young and Cheryl Reidy; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, two sisters, four nephews and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends.
The memorial funeral service for Mr. Butts will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the chapel, with the Rev. JudyAnn Morse officiating and Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard conducting military rites. Per his wishes, cremation has been entrusted to Lunning Chapel. Inurnment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for First United Church of Christ.
