Mr. Graden Pence Schroeder died at 5:30 a.m. Monday at his home at 910 S. 14th. Death came the day before his fifty-sixth birthday. Last rites will be held at the Prugh Chapel at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Officiating will be the Rev. Earl Meissner, pastor of Bethany Lutheran church, of which Mr. Schroeder was a member, Burial will be in Aspen Grove cemetery. A native of Illinois, Mr. Schroeder was the son of George W. and Nellie Pence Schroeder, and was born Aug. 31, 1909, in Stronghurst township, Henderson county. He was graduated from the Danville high school and served with the Army Engineers in World War II. He was employed as a maintenance mechanic by US Gypsum Co. He farmed near Sperry before moving to Burlington. Mr. Schroeder was married to Frances Leona Dehn at Burlington on Jan. 14, 1939. She survives as do a son and a daughter, Ronald Lee and Dianne Kay Schroeder, both at home. The following brothers and sisters also survive: Paul Schroeder, Spokane, Wash.; Donald and George Schroeder, Jr., Mrs. Lucille Myers, and Mrs. Phyllis Jerrel, all of Mr. Pleasant; Mrs. Stanley Freehan, Joy, Ill.; Mrs. Pauline Wright, Des Moines; Mrs. Robert Smith, Pueblo, Colo.; and Mrs. Stella Bollinger of California. A brother and two sisters died previously. Mr. Schroeder was a member of the American Legion Post at Mediapolis.
