Obituary
Mrs. Margaret Ballard died at St. Francis Hospital at half-past eleven last night. For two years past she had been cared for at St. Francis hospital. Three years ago Mrs. Ballard sustained a stroke of paralysis from which she never recovered and her death was due to the nervous prostration resulting therefrom.
The deceased was born in Virginia, near Charleston, in 1821, her maiden name being Margaret Kisinger. She can to Iowa in 1840 and became a resident of Burlington in 1848, in which year she was married to Nelson Ballard by Rev. Wm. Salter. Her husband died in 1854. She is survived by her only son, Samuel R. Ballard, now residing in Galesburg.
Mrs. Ballard was known and loved in many Burlington households where she ministered in her gentle way to the sick and infirm. For many years she was the main reliance of many families in this city whenever sickness laid its hand upon any loved member of the home circle, and she endeared herself to all by her tender, gentle ways and lovable character.
The funeral will be held Monday at 2 o’clock from the residence of DY Cox, Fourth and Maple streets.
