Clement George Bresch, 95, of Burlington, died at Great River Klein Center on Wednesday evening, January 9, 2013. Born on December 23, 1917 in Burlington, Iowa, he was the son of Alexander August and Theresia Cecelia Thomas Bresch. He married Edyth Viola Schmeiser on May 4, 1958 in Burlington, Iowa. She died on July 2, 2007. Clement served in the U.S. Army, 454 th Engineering in World War II as a Tech 4. He worked at Chittenden & Eastman in maintenance, Murray Iron, Schwartz Auto Electric and Wagner Electric & Elevator Co. He also attended Curry Flying School in 1947 thru 48 and became a commercial pilot, flight instructor and aircraft engine mechanic. He was a member of the elevator construction union and life member of the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed collecting firearms and was an avid hunter. He was a member of SS. John & Paul Catholic Church. He is survived by 17 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edyth; his parents; two sisters, Helen Morgan and Charlotte Bresch; three brothers, Arlios, Edward and Thomas Bresch.
The Funeral Mass for Clement George Bresch will be held on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church, Burlington, Iowa. Celebrant will be Fr. Bruce DeRammelaere. Special music will be provided by the Des Moines County Resurrection Choir. Military rites will be conducted by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard. Interment will be at Aspen Grove Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m. in Prugh's Chapel. A memorial has been established for St. John & Paul Catholic Church.
