Leetta Thompson, 87, of Burlington, died at her home on Saturday, August 1, 2009. She was born on December 2, 1922, the daughter of Marshall Webb and Alice Jones. She married Marshall Henry Thompson in Mariana, Arkansas in 1945. He predeceased her. Leetta was a homemaker and owner/operator of The Melting Pot in Sikeston, Missouri. She enjoyed cooking, fishing, and shopping. She loved her children and family. She also enjoyed giving of herself to her family. She was affiliated with the Union Baptist Church. She is survived by two daughters, Betty Wilson of Burlington, and Georgia Thompson of Davenport; one son, Iva "Ricky" Thompson of Mediapolis; one brother, Theodore Webb of Ocala, Florida; 21 grandchildren; 70 great-grandchildren; 45 great-great-grandchildren; three daughter-in-laws, Geraldine Webb of Burlington, Pamela Thompson of Ottumwa, and Clezal Thompson of Waco, TX. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; three sons, John Webb, Marshall Thompson, and Tommie Lee Thompson; two brothers; and one sister. Funeral services for Leetta Thompson will be held on Friday, August 7, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at Union Baptist Church, Burlington, Iowa. Rev. Lawrence Manson will officiate. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. No formal visitation is planned. Friends may call in Prugh's Chapel from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. A memorial has been established for Union Baptist Church.
