Mrs. L. Elaine (Braun) Moser, 94, of Burlington died at 8:20 a.m. Thursday, August 6, 2015, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
Born August 23, 1920 in Roseville, Illinois, she was the daughter of Melvin A. and Ethel M. (Cunningham) Kirby. On July 25, 1942 she married Andrew O. Braun in Memphis, Missouri. He preceded her in death on October 4, 1971. On March 27, 1977 she married Leslie Moser in Burlington. He also preceded her in death on December 12, 1998.
Mrs. Moser was a 1938 graduate of Roseville High School. She was a homemaker and worked as a utility operator at Sylvania Electric for 17 ½ years and was a production operator with IRC for three years.
Mrs. Moser was a member of Parkside First Baptist Church, Philathea Class of the Church and Burlington Gym and VFW Auxiliaries. She was a Cub fan, loved to tell jokes, was ornery and loved to make people laugh.
Survivors include her son, David L. (Linda) Braun of Port Orchard, Washington; daughter, Cheryl (Don) Johnson of Wever; two step sons, Vincent Moser and Duane Moser both of Burlington; two step daughters, Sandra (David) Rice and Shelly (John) Whooley both of Burlington; six grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; one brother, Wendell Kirby of Spokane, Washington; one sister, Pauline (Melvin) Clayton of Galesburg, Illinois; and nieces and nephews.
Besides her husbands, she was also preceded in death by her parents, infant son, two sisters Norma Lake and Joyce Duncan, brother Marvin Kirby, and step son Michael Moser.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday, August 7th, at Parkside First Baptist Church.
The celebration of life for Elaine will be 11 a.m. Saturday, August 8th, at Parkside First Baptist Church with the Revs. Marshall Jackman and Richard Dutzer officiating. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for future worship generations.
