Mary H. Brandstetter, 89, of West Burlington, died at 3:50 PM Friday, December 25, 2015, at the Great River Klein Center in West Burlington.
Born September 9, 1926, in Webster, IL, she was the daughter of Frank and Ollie Barrett Hasten. On February 2, 1946, she married Lyle Eugene Brandstetter in Burlington. He died June 28, 2010.
Mary worked for the O.S.F. St. Francis Continuation Care Center for many years.
She was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). She enjoyed flower gardening, especially roses, pansies, and African violets, making candy, wildlife, cardinal birds, feeding birds, and most of all, she cherished spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her three sons, Joseph (Beth) Brandstetter of Parker, CO, David (Beth) Brandstetter of Cedar Rapids, Todd (Danette) Brandstetter of Middletown; two daughters, Sherry (John Sr.) Wolfe of Burlington, Cynthia (Darrell) Bachtell of Burlington; ten grandchildren, Heather (Jerry) Hayes, Julie (Jonathan) Zimmer, Dustin (Jennifer) Bachtell, Amanda (Steve) Reid, John (Rosalynn) Wolfe, Jr., John Brandstetter, Laura (Anthony) Hart, Jaina Brandstetter, Erin (Tony) Jacobs, Danielle Brandstetter; 16 great-grandchildren, J.R. Hayes, Jacob Bachtell, Marcus Lane, Marissa Hayes, Ryan Reid, Rylee Reid, Braden Bachtell, Kennedy Bachtell, Jonah Zimmer, Gavin Hayes, Winnifred Wolfe, Jesse Zimmer, Cohen Hart, Gabriel Jacobs, Everett Wolfe, Ava Jacobs, and two more great-grandchildren due in 2016; one sister, Betty Smith of Carthage, IL, numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and three sisters.
Visitation will be from 8:00 AM until 10:30 AM with the family to receive friends from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM Saturday, January 2, 2016, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.
The funeral service for Mrs. Brandstetter will be 10:30 AM Saturday, January 2, 2016, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home with Reverend David J. Yonker officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will be held at the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) following the burial.
A memorial has been established for First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
