Obituary
Another old settler is gathered to his fathers. About three weeks ago Jacob Weider, whose health had rapidly failed during the past year, went to Osceola, Iowa, to reside with his only daughter, Mrs. Maria Hartshorn, and there he died Sunday night at 10 o'clock of paralysis, after an illness of a few days. Mr. Weider was born in Ross county, Ohio, in 1804 and came to Burlington in 1844, and the following year built the house on Third street which has always been his residence. He first was employed in Wm. Walker's mill, and clerked for some time for General Lauman, and was otherwise engaged. He held the office of coroner of this county almost uninteruptedly for thirty years and fullfilled its obligations faithfully. He was a quiet, unassuming man, and very well known in this community, of which he has been an upright and honored member. His wife died in September, 1880, since which time his health has been much enfeebled, and his advanced age made him an east prey of diesease. He leaves two children, J.S. Weider, of this city and Mrs. Maria Hartsborn of Osceola. The funeral will be held tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock from the residence of J.S. Weider, 729 North Eighth street.
