Mrs. Mary Esther Alfs, 90, 630 N. Sixth, died Tuesday in Burlington hospital. She had been a patient there since Jan 1.
Born in Medina, NY Jan 2, 1865, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Pettit. She came to Burlington in 1893 as a music teacher after completing studies at the Boston Conservatory of Music. She was married on Jan 24, 1894, in Medina to George H. Alff.
She was a member of the PEO sisterhood and was of the Presbyterian faith.
Surviving are her husband, a brother, Henry C. Pettit, Medina, and six nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are pending at Wallen's chapel.
