Elliott Lee Bragg, 78, of Burlington, formerly of Fort Madison, died at 11:04 a.m. Monday, Aug. 9, 2004, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.
Born March 21, 1926, in Converse, Ind., he was the son of Ellis Leroy and Osha Lucille Gibson Bragg. On June 15, 1947, he married Rose Crothers in St. Joe, Ind.
Mr. Bragg worked as a mechanical engineer for 46 years, 32 of those years at Fruehauf in Fort Madison. He retired in 1990.
He was a 1944 graduate of St. Joe High School and earned a mechanical engineering degree at Purdue University.
He was a member of First Christian Church in Burlington, American Society of Mechanical Engineers, Society of Automotive Engineers, and a ham radio club. He enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, fishing, traveling, golfing, his computer, and collecting paper weights. He made crafts of sea shells collected in Florida. He enjoyed making toys.
Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Suzanne Marie Yentes of Franklin, Ind., JoElla Lee Anderson of Montrose, Laurie Caroline Breen of Denmark, and Melanie Rose Fitch of Athens, Ala.; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, and one sister, Janice V. Worman of Albion, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
The memorial for Mr. Bragg will be Friday, August 9, 2004, in Lunning Chapel. The Rev. David Nash will officiate. Inurnment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from noon until the time of service on Friday. A memorial has been established for Great River Hospice.
