Obituary
Mrs. William Baldwin, former well known and prominent resident of Burlington, and wife of Vice President Baldwin of the Burlington railroad passed away in Pasadena, Cal., on Saturday afternoon, according to word received here.
Before her marriage in 1870 to Mr. Baldwin, she was Miss Alice Tuttle, a daughter of Martin and Mary Tuttle of Des Moines, Ia. Her father was a man of prominence and was a brother of General James M. Tuttle who served as colonel of the second infantry and became a brigadier-general. She was born in Farmington, Ia., April 4, 1850, and 12 years later moved to Des Moines with her parents. Following her marriage to Mr. Baldwin, she came to Burlington for which continued her home for many years.
After leaving Burlington Mr. and Mrs. Baldwin resided in Highland, Park, Ill., as Mr. Baldwin’s duties as vice-president of the Burlington railroad required his headquarters in Chicago. Three years ago, due to failing health, she moved to Pasadena.
Surviving are her husband, WW Baldwin, and three children; Martin T. Baldwin of Berkley, Cali.; Roger A. Baldwin of Evanston, Ill.; Miss Rachel Baldwin of Pasadena. Another son, William Wright Baldwin, Jr., was killed in action in France in 1918. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. FF Connor and Mrs. George B. Salther, both of Burlington; a brother, James W. Tuttle, Los Angeles; a half brother, Jno M. Tuttle, New York City.
Funeral services will be held here at the Congregational church, Friday afternoon at 3 o’clock.
