Mr. John L. Barry passed away in Terre Haute, Indiana, January 3. Committal services will be held in Aspen Grove Cemetery Thursday at 9:30 am preceded by a brief service in Prugh’s Chapel at 9:15 am.
John Berry, 58 years old, 121 Jackson Boulevard, died Sunday afternoon, Jan 3, at the St. Anthony hospital where he was taken following a heart attack suffered at the residence Saturday morning.
A native of Watcheer, Iowa, Mr. Barry had lived here for 21 years. He was a Civil Service employee at the Terre Haute Ordnance Depot. A veteran of WWI, he was a member of the Fort Harrison Post 40, American Legion.
His widow, Mrs. Madeline K. Barry, continuity writer for WTHI and formerly with WBOW and the Saturday Spectator, survives. Two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Timson, Hebron, Ind., and Mrs. Elizabeth Bath, Des Moines, Iowa, were here to attend the services held at the PJ Ryan and Sons Funeral Home, Wednesday morning. Another sister, Mrs. Agnes Ferrell, Indianapolis, was unable to attend as she is confined to her home with a broken hip.
Mr. Barry’s brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Timson, had spent the holidays here as the guests of Mr. And Mrs. Barry and had returned to their home when informed of the death of the brother.
Accompanying Mrs. Barry to Burlington, Iowa, where the body was taken for burial were, in addition to the relatives, Mrs. Bruce McCormick and Miss Myra Janco, of Terre Haute.
Burial was in the Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington.
