Murl S. "Junior" Bowers, 76, of Kingston, died of cancer at 1:45 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, 2004, at his
home.
Born Aug. 26, 1928, in Morning Sun, he was the son of Murl and Ester Samuels Bowers. On July 20, 1957, he married Joan Goble in Burlington.
Mr. Bowers was a fork truck operator for JI Case for 35 years. He retired in 1992. He was a graduate of Morning Sun High School. He served in the
Korean War as an Army corporal and was a member of UAW 807. He enjoyed working in his garden, mushroom hunting, playing cards and helping his brother farm.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Dennis Bowers of Middle- town; one daughter, Karen Wagner of West Burlington; one grandchild; one brother, Donald Bowers of Wapello; and three siters, Darlene Widman and Mary Wood, both of Omaha, Neb., and Ruth Jennett of Mooresville, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Monday at Lunning Chapel, with family receiving friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
The funeral service for Mr. Bowers will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Lunning Chapel, with the Rev. Beth Briggs officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery, with Henry County Veteran's Honor Guard providing full military rites.
A memorial has been established.
