Wanda Jean Bouquet, 85, of Burlington died at 7:50 p.m. Sunday, May 23, 2010, at her home. Born October 30, 1924, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Earl Bouquet and Edith B. Lindberg Freitag Sr. Ms. Bouquet worked as a long-distance operator for Burlington Bell Co. She worked 11 years at Burlington Hospital, and 10 years as secretary at Des Moines County Mental Health Center in Burlington until retirement. She owned and operated Wanda's Wedding Cakes and Catering Shop. She graduated from Burlington High School. She served in the Navy Waves as a bugler during World War II. She was of the Lutheran faith. She enjoyed painting in oil and water color, animals, gardening, water gardening, reading, and knitting. Survivors include three sons, Gary Coulter of Burlington, Bruce L. Coulter of Rockford, IL, and Kirk S. Coulter of Middletown; three grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; one brother, Roy F. Freitag of Burlington; one sister, Peggy L. Bailey of West Branch; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother. No visitation or services are planned. The body has been cremated. Private family burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
