H.E. "Bud" Elder, 69, Boone rural, a former Burlington meat cutter, died at 5:30 a.m. Sept. 15 at his home following an extended illness. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Methodist church, Ames, with Rev. Glenn Bush officiating. Committal services will be at Aspen Grove cemetery, Burlington, at approximately 3:30 p.m. Thursday. Born Sept. 20, 1890 at Newton, ill., Elder was employed by CB&Q railroad from 1914 to 1935. He lived in Boone county until 1938. He married Fay N. Curran in June of 1923 at Morning Sun. He was a member of the Masons and American Legion, and a World War I veteran. He is survived by a son, William C. Elder, Gilbert; a daughter, Mrs. C.R. Nolan, Boone; two sisters; 6 grandchildren.
