Obituary
William D. Johnsen was born in Burlington, December 20, 1879, and received his education in the public schools. He lived at the home of his parents, on Des Moines street, with his brothers and sisters, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hans C. Johnsen having moved to Oklahoma some time ago. They were informed by telegraph of the deplorable accident in which their son lost his life, and will arrive in Burlington as quickly as trains will carry them. William D. Johnsen entered the employ of Theodore Woepking the Osborn street tinner, about eight years ago, where he learned his trade. The young man was possessed of the traits of industry and steadiness to a remarkable degree, and rapidly forged to the front with the result that his employer pronounced William Johnsen the best workman he had ever employed. The deceased was universally respected for his manly qualities and was exceedingly popular. He recently joined the local lodge of Elks, and was also a member of the Modern Woodmen of America. In addition to his parents the deceased is survived by his brothers, Oliver G. Arthur, and George O. Johnsen, of this city, his sisters, Dorcas and Margaret, also of Burlington, and another brother, Ellery C. Johnsen, of North Yakima, Wash. The announcement of the date of the funeral will be made later.
