Obituary
Ernest August Boortz, aged 86, passed away at his residence located at 601 N. Sixth on Sunday at 9 a.m. He was born on October 17, 1881, in Madison County, to John and Bertha Naus Boortz. On November 24, 1910, he married Della Ballard in Creston. He was a member of Creston's St. John's Evangelical church. After rendering 45 years of service, he retired as a conductor from Burlington railroad. Additionally, he was a member of the Order of Railway Conductors. He is survived by his wife, his son Dr. Dale E. Boortz of Burlington, and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Prugh's chapel, with Rev. Donald V. Klohr officiating. The burial will take place at Aspen Grove cemetery.
