Thermon Vail Bonner, 87, of Danville, died at 2:32 a.m. Wednesday, December 23, 2009, at Danville Care Center in Danville. Born January 10, 1922, in Millport, Ala., he was the son of Louis Henry and Bessie Lee Vail Bonner. On December 17, 1943, he married Ruby Hawthorne in Tuscaloosa, Ala. She died October 26,2006. Mr. Bonner worked as a security guard at Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown. He attended Northport High School in Northport, Ala. He served in the Army with the military police in Camp Gruber, Okla. He was of the Methodist faith. He was a member of Masonic Lodge Malta 318, Moose Lodge, and Eagles Club in Burlington. Survivors include two daughters, Deanna Burns of Norman, Okla., and Peggy Beckham of Burlington; one son, Bob Bonner of West Burlington; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at Prugh's Chapel in Burlington, with Masonic rites at 7 p.m. The funeral with military rites for Mr. Bonner will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Prugh's Chapel with the Rev. Dan Dingus officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington. A memorial has been established for Great River Hospice House and Danville Care Center.
