E.L. Bonewitz, 69, 2430 Main Street, died at 8:14 pm Monday, Jan. 5, at Burlington Medical Center.
Born Dec. 8, 1917, at Savannah, Mo., he was the son of Beryl and Cecilia Bickett Bonewitz.
He married Lynn Holman Oct. 31, 1937, at Leavenworth, Kan.
He founded Chemical Services Inc. in 1952 and merged that firm with Bonewitz Chemical in 1964. He was a past president of Bonewitz Chemical. In 1981, he founded Contract Services, Ltd.
Mr. Bonewitz was a member of Christ Episcopal Church. He was a past president of New Crystal Lake Club, past president of the Burlington Golf Club, a member of the First National Bank board of directors, Patriot Lodge 650, AOPA, and BPO 84.
Surviving are his wife, Lynn; two sons, Eric Holman Bonewitz, Overland Park, Kan., James Christopher Bonewitz, Eureka Springs, Kan.; one daughter, Judith Lynn Choice, Overland Park, Kan.; a foster son, William Duker Zachmeyer, Atlanta, G.; one brother, Beryl Bonewitz, Leavenworth, Kan.; one sister, Mrs. Mary Kellner, Leavenworth, Kan.; and nine grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Christ Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Phillip Snyder officiating. The body has been cremated. Prugh Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
