Obituary
Mrs. Sarah W. Bowdle, passed away Sunday at the home of her niece, Mrs. J.J. Roth. The funeral will be held from Unterkircher’s chapel today (Tuesday) at 2 o’clock.
Sarah W. Crabb was born in Ohio in 1821. With her husband JF Bowdle, she came to Burlington during the fifties. Mr. Bowdle was engaged in the grocery business here. At one time he had a store on the corner of Fifth and Washington Streets. Later the family moved to Kansas, where the husband died some twenty years ago. The widow returned to Iowa and for a number of years she made her home in Middletown, but during the past eight years, she found the loving care and attention at the home of her niece Mrs. JJ Roth. Mrs. Bowdle was a good woman, an earnest and consistent member of the Methodist Episcopal church. She had enjoyed that great blessing, good health, and had been a sufferer from dropsy of the heart but a short time when she received the final summons. She had many acquaintances and friends who esteemed her highly, but no direct descendants and so far as known Mrs. Roth was her only relative in the section of the country.
