Obituary
Edward C. Bangs, an aged resident of Burlington, passed away yesterday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J.H. Scholer, 405 Harrison Avenue. He had been ill for the past twelve months and death was not unexpected.
The deceased was born at Elgin, Ill., December 31, 1838, and came to Burlington when he was but nineteen years of age. When the civil war broke out in 1861 he enlisted in Company E of the 25th Iowa infantry and served in the war three years. After returning from the war he settled in Burlington again and has lived here since. For many years he was one of the faithful employees of the Burlington Lumber Com. He made many friends and was well-liked by everyone.
He is survived by two children, Mrs. J.H. Scholer and Mrs. C.R. Dickson of Burlington. Two sisters and one brother also survive; Mrs. Dr. F.N. Brown of Dundee, Ill., and Mrs. Lucy Fuller of New London, Ia., and G.O. Bangs of New London.
The funeral will be held Sunday morning from the residence on Harrison Avenue at 10 o’clock. Rev. Dr. Salter will officiate.
