Ralph Garman Ray of 1016 N. Fourth, died in Burlington hospital at 12:29 a.m. Thursday. Ray was born in Burlington on June 9, 1889, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Ray, a pioneer Burlington family. He was educated in the Burlington schools and, after graduation from high school, joined his father and his late brother, George Ray, in the manufacture and selling of farm implements. Later Ray traveled for the Perfection Stove company of Cleveland, Ohio. At one time he was manager of the East St. Louis. Ill., warehouse of the company. After leaving the Perfection company, Ray was employed by Sears, Roebuck and company in the appliance division at the Chicago and Oak Park, Ill., stores for 10 years. Ray was married to Anna Lee Ringold on Jan. 14, 1935. Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Roger Nichols, Picatinny Arsenal, Dover, N.J., and Mrs. Morlan Nelson, of Boise, Idaho, and four grandchildren. Also, surviving are two sisters. Mrs. Harry Pence and Miss Sara Ray of 1016 North Fourth street. Ray served in the Marine Corps in World War I. He was stationed in Haiti from June 1, 1918, until the end of the war. He was a member of Christ Episcopal church, the American Legion, and the Elks club. The body is at Prugh;s Chapel.
