Amy Lynn Zippe, 20, of 4703 Summer Street Road, died Tuesday, March 1, 1994. Born Sept. 25, 1973, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Martin and Sharon Smith Zippe. She was a 1992 graduate of Burlington High School and attended the University of Iowa. She was a member of the Spring Grove United Methodist church. Survivors include her parents of Burliington; her grandmother, Betty Smith of Burlington; her grandfather, Lester Zippe of Burlington; her great-grandmother, Ida Irwin of Ann Arbor, Mich.; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. The family will recieve friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Sheagren Funeral Home. The funeral for Miss Zippe will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Sheagren Funeral Home with the Rev. George Weitzel officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established for the Spring Grove church.
*A rural Burlington woman died from apparent carbon monoxide poisoning in a garage south of town Tuesday afternoon. Amy Zippe, 20, 4703 Summer Street Road, was pronounced dead at Burlington Medical Center, where she was taken by ambulance after her mother reportedly discovered her in the garage at 4521 Summer Street Road about 3:30 p.m. "She was found in a car in the garage and the car was running," a Des Moines County deputy said. The county medical examiner performed an autopsy but had not issued a ruling on the death as of 10:30 p.m. Tuesday. The death is under investigation. Zippe reportedly had been staying with a relative at 4521 Summer Street Road.
