Edith Mae Zimmerman, 78, of Burlington, formerly of Montrose, died at 11:36 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, 1999, at Burlington Care Center. Born March 17, 1921, in Oakville, she was the daughter of Daniel and Grace Kriegauser Kuntz. On Nov. 3, 1945, she married Volkmar Reinhardt Zimmerman at Fort Leavenworth, Kan. He died May 24, 1996. Mrs. Zimmerman was a 1939 graduate of Oakville High School and a lifelong resident of the area, moving to Burlington in 1977. She was a homemaker. Survivors include two sons, Dale Zimmerman of Estacada, Ore., and Wesley Zimmerman of Burlington; three grandchildren; and three sisters, Alice Mullahy and Frances Turner, both of Burlington and Lorraine Floyd of West Burlington. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one sister. Visitation will be from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday in Lunning Chapel. The body has been creamated. The private graveside memorial service for Mrs. Zimmerman will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established for the Des Moines County Humane Society.
