Sue Lasher, 55, died Saturday, May 2, 2009, at Shady Oaks Care Center in Lake City. Born March 9, 1954, in Ports- mouth, VA, she was the daughter of Firson and Martha Mallett Zackert. Mrs. Lasher worked for the Southern Cal School District as the school's Business Manager and Board Secretary for 25 years before retiring on June 30, 2007. She graduated from Burlington High School in 1972, and from American Institute of Business in 1974. She attended Buena Vista College in Storm Lake. She was a member of the Clara Miller Memorial Bowling League, where she served as league secretary, Iowa School Business Officials, Friend of Southern Cal Future Farmers Association, ISEBA Employee Benefits Council, and former member of the Statewide Health Committee. She was an avid Hawkeye fan and enjoyed walking each night with her dog. Survivors include one daughter, Amy Smith of Lake City; three stepsons, Wes Lasher of Algona, Aaron Lasher of Lake City, and Owen Lasher of Boone; two stepdaughters, Lori Lasher of Yetter, and Rachel Seil of Lake City; one grandchild; five step-grandchildren; two brothers, Steven Zackert of Mesquite, Texas, and John Zackert of San Antonio, Texas; and one sister, Kay Cvrk of Manning. She was preceded in death by her parents and one step-grandson. A celebration of life for Mrs. Lasher will be at 6 p.m. today at Lampe Funeral Home in Lake City. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be Wednesday in Aspen Grove Cemetery, Burlington.
