Firson Zackert, 58, of 1725 South, died Friday, July 1, in Veterans hospital, Iowa City. Born May 5, 1919, in Burlington, he was the son of George C. and Pearl Newby Zackert. He married Martha H. Mallett Dec. 18, 1948, in Washington D.C. He was retired from the Navy and a JI Case Co. employe. Surviving: The wife; two sons, Stephen, Burlington, and John, Jacksonville, N.C.; two daughters, Kaye Zackert, Stuart, and Mrs. Lonnie (Sue) Lasher, Lake City; mother, Burlington, five step-grandchildren, Funeral: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Prugh's Chapel, Rev. Clifford Haskings; Aspen Grove cemetery.
