Mrs. Pearl Esther Zackert, 87, Burlington Care Center, died there at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, June 7. She was born Jan.28, 1891, in Wever, the daughter of Gabriel and Cassie Peel Newby. She married George C. Zackert July 17, 1917, in Burlington; he died Feb. 18, 1977. A retired teacher and homemaker, she was a member of Asbury Methodist church, Retired Teachers Assn., and Margaret Battome Sr. Kinds Daughters circle. Surviving: Four grandchildren. Funeral: 3:30 p.m. Friday, Prugh's Chapel, Rev. Robert Scott; Aspen Grove Cemetery.
