Chrystal Helen Bonar, 92, of 2910 Madison Ave., Burlington, formerly of 824 Hayes St. and Mount Pleasant, died at 1240 p.m. Sunday, April 7, 1996, at Burlington Medical Center.
Born June 11, 1903, in Wapello, she was the daughter of George C. and Alta Margaret Williams Gauss. She married R. Frank Bonar in 1921 in New London. He died in 1947.
Mrs. Bonar was a proofreader for The Hawk Eye in Burlington for 18 years, retiring in 1965.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Dorcas Circle of the church.
Survivors include two sons, Melford Bonar of Anaheim, Calif., and Robert Bonar of Mount Pleasant; one daughter, Mary Saathoff of Burlington; one brother, Eldred Gauss of Grinnell; two sisters, Mary Ellen Erickson of Burlington and Harriet Buttrick of Rushmore, Minn.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one son.
Visitation will begin at noon today in Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 1230 to 130 p.m. Wednesday.
The funeral for Mrs. Bonar will be 130 p.m. Wednesday in Lunning Chapel, with the Revs. Charles Evans and Ron Presley officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for Trinity Lutheran Church.
(She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one son, Ivan Eugene Bonar, and one sister, Gertrude Vennard.)
