Kathryn E. Young Nichols, 61, Ft. Madison Rt. 1, died unexpectedly at 8:31 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, at Ft. Madison Community Hospital. She was born July 7, 1922, at Loraine, Ill., to Joseph carl and Mildred Mae Adair Wilson. She spent most of her life in the Burlington and Ft. Madison area. She was a homemaker, having married Bernard Young on April 19, 1941, at Nashua; he died Jan. 11, 1967. She married John Nichols at Denmark on April 4, 1976. She was of the Christian faith. Surviving: Husband; four sons, James Young, Denmark, Bobby, Burlington, Mike, Ft. Madison, and Kirk, Eldorado, Kan.; three stepsons, Larry Nichols, Dallas, Texas, Johnny Ronald Nichols, and Roger Dale Nichols, both of Hannibal, Mo.; two daughters, Mrs. Bernadine Murphy, Burlington, and Lorene VanEst, Cottonwood Falls, Kan.; 15 grandchildren; two brothers, Paul Wilson, Maywood, Mo., and Earl Wilson, Quincy, Ill.; two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Brownlee, Cottonwood Falls, Kan., and Mrs. Marguerite Maddox, Qunicy, Ill. Funeral: 10 a.m. Saturday, Barr Memorial Chapel, Ft. Madison, the Rev. David Gaskill; Aspen Grove cemetery, Burlington.
