Obituary
Mark Young, 83, of Danville, died at 7:35 a.m. Thursday, April 12, 2007, at Danville Care Center in Danville. Born July 12, 1923, in Burlington, he was the son of Herbert and Anna M. Wunderlich Young. He was a combat engineer in the Army in the Aleutian Islands. He worked at Klein Manufacturing and Drake Hardware, and later as a groundskeeper of Crapo Park and a janitor at Hope Haven. He was Lutheran. He expressed his artistic skill through carving plastic, and drawing cartoons and characters. He enjoyed playing guitar and singing western and gospel music. Survivors include special friend, Darlene Broeker of West Burlington. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation is 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Prugh's Chapel. Family will not be present. A graveside service for Mr. Young will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Aspen Grove Cemetery, with the Rev. Dan Dingus officiating. Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard will give full military rites.
