Obituary
Gerald "Jerry" C. Young, 71, 113 Argyle St., died at 12:10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, 1993, at Burlington Medical Center. Born Nov. 8, 1921, at Marengo, he was the son of Harry and Anna Hansen Young. On June 5, 1948, he married Doris J. Connelly. Mr. Young worked with J.I. Case Co. quality control for 37 years, retiring in 1984. He was of the Methodist faith and was a member of the United Auto Workers, National Rifle Association and a past member of the VFW. He served in the Army during World War II. Survivors include his wife; one son, Harold Dietsch of Cedar Falls; five grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers. Friends may call after noon Monday at Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m. Monday. The funeral for Mr. Young will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Lunning Chapel with the Rev. David Mixon officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established.
