Obituary

Frederick "Max" Yocum, 73, of 309 Wheeler St., West Burlington, died at 3;40 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 21, 1994, at Burlington Medical Center. Born Jan. 20, 1921, in Confidence, he was the son of James Frederick and Floy Van Benthusen. On April 11, 1953, he married Margaret Staub in St. Mary's Catholic Church, West Burlington. Mr. Yocum was in electronic maintenance for 16 years at Sylvania and Champion. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, V.F.W. Post 10102, Knights of Columbus, a past member of Eagles and Moose Lodge of Burlington. He was a World War II Navy veteran. he graduated from Corydon high school, Coyne Electrical School in Chicago, ill., and Milwaukee School of Engineering in Milwaukee School of Engineering in Milwaukee, Wis. Survivors include his wife and one brother, Dean Yocum of Burlington. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. Visitation will be after 8 a.m. today in Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends between 7 and 8:30 p.m. The funeral for Mr. Yocum will be at 10"30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Church, West Burlington, with Father Tom Stratman officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established to St. Mary's Catholic Church and Dr. A.J.'s Cancer Fund.
