Chris T. Moyers, 51, of Burlington, died at 5:40 am Monday, August 13, 2012, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer with his family by his side.Born December 5, 1960, in Burlington, he was the son of Clarence Wesley and Karren Irline Huffman Moyers. On November 12, 1983, he married Shelly Blake in Burlington.Chris started working for Big River Roofing Inc. in 1979 and became the Owner/President in January of 2000.He was a U.S. Navy Veteran.He was of the Lutheran faith. He enjoyed his free time golfing and boating on the river and was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan.Survivors include his wife, Shelly; one son, Adam (Lauren) Moyers of Burlington; his parents, Clarence and Karren Moyers of Burlington; two brothers, Faron (Corie) Moyers of Clements, CA, and Tony (Regina) Moyers of Greenwood, IN; one sister, Ronda (Tim) Zahner of Franksville, WI; and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his grandparents.Visitation will be from noon until 8:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday, August 16, 2012 at Thielen Funeral Home.The funeral service for Mr. Moyers will be 10:00 AM Friday, August 17, 2012, at Thielen Funeral Home with Pastor Christopher Roepke officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will be held at the Sombrero Bar & Grill following the burial.In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for Iowa Hospice.
