Joint rites for James H. Yates, 44, and Shirley Burgin Yates, 50, Burlington Rt. 5, will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Lunning Chapel, Elder Arnold Wiemann; Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established. Mr. and Mrs. Yates, owners of The Sandwich Shoppe at 15 Jefferson, were killed Saturday, Jan. 22, in a traffic accident on Ill. 164 three miles west of Monmouth, Ill. They had been married in Burlington in 1971. James H.Yates was born Jan. 13, 1939, at Moulton, to Lloyd and Irene Sprouse Yates. He was a computer programmer at JI Case Co. He was member of the Church of Christ. Surviving; Son James, Burlington Rt. 5; daughter Jennifer Twaddle, Colchester, Ill.; his parents, in Lake Placid, Fla.; and two sisters, Becky Coon, Washington, D.C. and Elizabeth Harris, Rochester, Minn. Shirley Burgin Yates was born in Burlington Sept. 14, 1932, to Edgar and Elsa Obermann Burgin. Surviving: Son Michael Ringblum, Bettendorf; daughter Pamela Ringblum, Denton, Texas; two brothers, Darnold Burgin, Wooster, Ohio, and Thomas Burgin, Burlingtonl one one grandchild.
