Dr. Thomas McLain Yard, 86, of Burlington, died at 10:26 a.m. Sunday, June 23, 2002, at Great River Medical Center Klein Center. Born Dec. 23, 1916, in Macomb, ill., he was the son of Edmund L. and Alice McLain yard. he married Mrtha Eunice Suggs on Jan. 11, 1940, in Dubuque. She died Oct. 4, 1995. Dr. yard was a podiatrist for 53 years, the longest practicing in the state of Iowa. He was a member of First Congregational Church and the Masonic Lodge and a 50-year member of the Kiwanis Club. He is survived by two sons, James Allen Yard of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Thomas K. Yard of Beaverton, ore., and four grand-children. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today in Prugh's Chapel. The funeral for Dr. yard will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First Congregational Church, with the Rev. Mel Miller officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established.
