Obituary
Earl M. Yager, 83, of Nauvoo, Ill., died at 9:10 p.m. Monday, March 22, 1993, at Montrose Heatlh Center. Born May 13, 1909, at Burlington , he was the son of Fred C. and Minnie Rosa Schnittke Yager. He married Barbara Edwards on Aug. 30, 1930, in Lee County. She died June 3, 1972. He then married marguerite Schmitz Kachle in 1975 in Sancramento, Calif. Survivors include his wife; a son, Thomas E. Yager of Kirkwood, Mo.; two stepdaughters, Mary Ann Garrelts of rural Hamilton and Beverly Smith of LaGrande, Ore.; three stepsons, Edward Schmitz and Robert Schmitz, both of rural Nauvoo, Ill., and William Schmitz of Fort Madison; two grandchildren; 20 stepgrandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Besides his first wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and a brother. He worked at J.I. Case Co., retiring in 1972. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Nauvoo. He was a member of the United Auto Workers. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Friday with the family receiving friends from 7 to 9 p.m. and a Christian wake service at 7:30 p.m. at Lamporte Funeral Home, Nauvoo. The funeral for Mr. Yager will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Nauvoo, with the Rev. Richard Slavish officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery, Burlington. A memorial has been established for the Salvation Army.
