Mr. Jack Eldon Wynn, 88, of rural West Burlington died at 11:15 p.m. Monday, December 14, 2015, at his daughter's home in Wayland.
Born October 2, 1927 in Prescott, Iowa, he was the son of Sam and Margaret "Peggy" (Penn) Wynn. On September 4, 1949 he married Carol Mae Kirkpatrick in Creston. She preceded him in death on August 18, 1998.
Mr. Wynn was a Navy veteran serving six years during the Korean War. He was a union electrician working at I.A.A.P, a realtor, and also worked at Farm King.
Mr. Wynn was a member of Heritage Baptist Church and loved serving the Lord and his church. He also served as church treasurer and a Sunday school teacher. He enjoyed raising dogs, quail, chickens, mink, and fox. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and prayed for them daily.
Survivors include three daughters, Rebecca Douglas of Bedford, Texas, Debra (Wilbur) Leichty of Wayland and Susan (Barney) Barnhart of Seattle, Washington; 12 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; one brother, Raymond Wynn of Burlington; two sisters, Margaret Curry of Danville and Patsy (Fred) Bessine of Burlington; special friend, Delores Sattler of Burlington and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Carol, brother Dale, sister Delores, and son-in-law Frank Douglas.
Military Rites will be conducted by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard at 12:45 p.m. Saturday, December 19th, at Lunning Chapel. The funeral service for Mr. Wynn will follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Brad Cranston officiating. Friends may call after 9 a.m. and the family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for Heritage Baptist Church.
