Roger M. Boecker, 79, of Burlington died 1:07 p.m. Friday, April 27, 2018 at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.
Born December 19, 1938 in Marengo, Iowa he was the son of Joseph and Frances (Denney) Boecker. On November 19, 1966 he married Marilyn Moeller in Burlington.
He was a 1957 graduate of Mediapolis High School and played basketball for and graduated from Southeastern Community College. He served in the Air Force in Istanbul, Turkey as a Payroll Clerk.
Roger worked for J.I. Case as a Dispatcher and Administrative Clerk for 29 years, retiring in 1997.
He was an avid Colts fan, a love that spanned over 60 years. He enjoyed attending Burlington Bees baseball games and served as an American Little League baseball coach. He loved fishing and playing cards, especially with his family and he loved his grandchildren. He was known to be meticulous about his lawn and his trucks.
Survivors include his wife Marilyn Boecker of Burlington; two sons, Lance (Mary) Boecker of Kansas City, MO and Travis (Jody) Boecker of Mediapolis; two grandchildren Clare and Maggie Boecker of Kansas City, MO; three step grandchildren, Brody Broders of Muscatine, Madyson Broders of New London and Brady Broders Wapello and one sister Jean (Richard) Ellsworth of Durant, IA.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Ruth Lunsford.
The funeral service for Mr. Boecker will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 1st at Lunning Chapel. The Rev. Randall Gearhart will officiate. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. The Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard will conduct military rites. Visitation will be from 5 until 7:00 p.m. Monday, April 30th at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends.
A memorial has been established for the Burlington Bees Baseball Foundation or a charity of donors choice.
