Kenneth L. Worley of Burlington, IA, passed away on October 1, 2008, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington, IA. He was born December 12, 1928, in Fairfield, IA. He was the son of Clayton and Dorothy Beliel Worley. He married Bonnie Jean Grimes on December 5, 1958, in Elk Point, SD. Mr. Worley worked construction all his life. He worked for Hardgrave Consruction, Kenyon Construction, Kaiser Construction, and Mower Construction on their various asphalt paving crews from 1949 until 1959, when he became a partner in Kenny's Asphalt Co., Inc. in Des Moines. In 1964 he came to Burlington for a couple of jobs and decided to stay. He and his wife formed and operated Worley's Asphalt & Paving Co., and in 1977 they opened Headlines, Ltd. In 1993 his health forced him to retire, so they sold Worley's Asphalt & Paving. Retirement didn't last long, and in 1997 he worked as a construction supervisor for CPI, Inc., Rock Island, IL, while they built the AutoZone stores in Burlington and Keokuk. He also worked part time for Hunt Road Storage & Grading running a trencher and backhoe for subdrain work, and also worked part time for Mike Nelson Concrete Paving Co. driving a dump truck. and as a construction supervisor for the Highway 218 Recon- struction in Keokuk, IA. He was a member of the Burlington Builders Club and a lifetime member of the Moose Lodge. He also worked on United Way. He enjoyed playing cards, cribbage, jigsaw puzzles and snowmobiles. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Worley of Burlington; two daughters, Debra Worley of Burlington and Shirlene (Hugh) Gilbert of Indianola, IA; two brothers, Lester Worley of Washington, IA and Jim Worley of Iowa City, IA; one sister, Doris Mineart of Fairfield, IA and extended family members. His parents and three brothers preceded him in death.
