Obituary
Marvin H. Woodward, 88, of Burlington, died at 1:16 p.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2011, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington. Born August 30, 1923 in Burlington he was the son of Homer George and Lois Gehring Woodward. On January 1, 1948 he married Verna Wagenbach in Burlington. Mr. Woodward was a graduate of Burlington High School and attended GI Training for Ironworkers at Iowa Army Ammunition Plant. He was a World War II Army veteran.
Mr. Woodward was an Ironworker and Farmer. He loved God's creation and enjoyed spending time cutting wood at the family farm.
Survivors include his wife, Verna Woodward of Burlington; four daughters, Sherry Ann (Don) Keppner of Burlington, Diane Kay (Tom) Ebert of Cave Creek, Arizona, Bonnie Niemtschke of Austin, Texas and Beverly Jo (Larry) Moser of Wapello; son-in-law, John Cox (Shirley) of Washington, Illinois; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Joyce Marilyn Lundeen Harris of Key Largo, Florida and Lucille Waggoner of Wyoming, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Ellen Sue Cox and one son-in-law, Tommy Niemtschke.
Visitation will begin at noon Tuesday, January 3rd in Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m.
The funeral service for Mr. Woodward will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 4th in Burlington Apostolic Church with the ministers of the church officiating. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for the Mediapolis Apostolic Christian Church Building Fund and Apostolic Christian Home for Handicapped of Morton, Illinois.
